 Claudia and Andres are two youngsters who live in a grand mansion. Their evil aunt Aurora Sombria, a bitter and cruel woman, derives pleasure from abusing them and keeping them separated from their real mother. For the slight disobedience they are locked in the cellar: dark, dusty and full of spiders and mouses. In the dark of the prison, in despair, the two imagine a grand-mother Mama Chonita that comforts them and advises them. The two children, however, escape from their aunt's clutches and embark on a trip to find their real family. They hope to find their Mom. And they will succeed in it. Then there is Morrongo a puppet-showman that helps them, they believe he is the archangel Gabriel fallen from the sky.
