Dona Cruz is a humble widow who works very hard as a servant and
sacrifices herself to give a better life to her daughter whom she
adores: Marisol. Marisol is a boastful and silly girl who doesn't
appreciate these sacrifices, but she is ashamed of her origins. In the
college she makes friends only with students from high society and she
invents that she is a daughter of a diplomat. Marisol meets, falls in
love and marries a millionaire Marcos Belmar, but she asks her mother
to pretend to be her nanny after the death of her parents. Loving her
daughter so much, Dona Cruz accepts. Then Marisol dies from the heart
attack. Dona Cruz remains there to bring up her grandchildren. After
Marcos' new marriage, the new wife doesn't like her stepchildren and
Dona Cruz. The life for Dona Cruz becomes more and more difficult...
