This story takes place in the middle of XIX century in Puebla, Mexico.
Estela Ballesteros suffers from a heart problem. Due to this fact her
family, a very preservative one, allows her to study art with the
painter Octavio Durán and to have an engagement with Angel Ramirez,
whom the family doesn't like. When Estela realizes that she cannot
change her irresponsible fiancé, she brakes up with him and accepts to
marry Octavio. On the wedding day, when Estela and Octavio are in front
of the altar, Angel interrupts the ceremony to prevent the marriage,
which causes that Estela has a heart attack and dies. Octavio is very
affected. Angel flees to Holland where he falls in love with a dancer
with whom he has a son. Daisy, the Estela's sister also dies, but
before her death she leaves her daughter Estelita to Octavio, and he
raises her up to be an exact copy of her aunt Estela. When Estelita
grows up, Octavio falls in love with her and he doesn't allow any man
to approach her, until from France arrives the son of Angel, who is
identical to his father and he also falls in love with her.
