(3 votes)

The X-Files tv seriesThis television series follows the adventures and lives of FBI agents investigating those cases that involve the paranormal or previously unsolved (especially by conventional means). FBI Special Agents Mulder, Scully, Doggett and Reyes work to uncover forces within the United States of America government that would violate people's rights, alien creatures and monsters alike that attack and other mysteries.

FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are not the same at all. Mulder is a believer in the paranormal while Scully is not. Together, they investigate paranormal cases which takes them all the way to alien conspiracies within our government and even puts their lives and careers at risk. Together, they try to solve the mysteries within our government, no matter what they have to do, and along the way they try to solve any other case that's related to the paranormal.

Fox (Don't call me Fox) Mulder is a believer in the paranormal. He has been assigned to the X-Files unit which investigates FBI cases for which standard investigatory techniques don't seem to work. Dana Scully, a medical doctor and FBI agent is a skeptic. Together they travel to FBI cases where something odd has happened.

Trivia

Recurring use of the numbers: 1013 - Ten Thirteen is the name of Chris Carter's production company; his birthday is 13 October 1956. The number 1121 also appears often; it is creator Chris Carter's wife, Dori's, birthday.

Scully's family has a thing for Moby Dick: Scully is called Starbuck by her father, her dog's name is Queequeg, and she calls her father Captain Ahab.

David Duchovny and his character Fox Mulder have the same middle name: William.

On an episode of The Simpsons titled "The Springfield Files" both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny parodied their respective characters of Dana Scully and Fox Mulder.

Nicholas Lea, who plays the traitorous agent Alex Krycek, does all his own stunt work.

In the early years of the series, Mulder is a firm believer in extraterrestrials and Scully is skeptical. The opposite is true for the actors who portray them.

William B. Davis, who plays the Cigarette Smoking Man, is a non-smoker. The cigarettes he uses in his scenes aren't tobacco, they're herbal.

During the opening titles, Mulder and Scully's FBI ID badges read "Federal Bureau of Justice, United States Department of Investigation." The alteration was necessary as making a fake FBI badge, even for fictional purposes, is illegal.

New Amsterdam
John Amsterdam, a brilliant NYPD homicide detective is immortal. He is 400 years old, but his body structure is that of a 35-year-old. Amsterdam was a Dutch soldier in the year 1642 when he stepped in front of a sword to save the life of a Native American girl during a massacre of her tribe. The girl in turn rescued Amsterdam by weaving an ancient spell that conferred immortality upon him. It was also prophesied that he would not age until he finds his one true love, and only then will he become whole and ready for mortality.
